Two state-of-the-art offices.
Advanced Sight Center has two convenient office locations, one in Washington and one in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Inside these modern, spacious and patient-centered offices are warmly appointed reception areas and comfortable exam rooms. Plus, each office is equipped with a fully licensed and accredited ambulatory surgical center. This affords you the ultimate in convenience and efficiency should you need specialized care for cataracts or glaucoma or want refractive surgery.
Staying at the forefront of ophthalmology.
There are always new and exciting advances being made in the field of ophthalmology, and Dr. Short and Dr. Ullrich make a point of staying on top of them. To do this, they complete many hours of continuing education each year and maintain membership in some of the most respected organizations in their field. Over the years, Advanced Sight Center has been the first ophthalmology practice in the area to offer several ophthalmic advances, including the excimer laser for refractive surgery and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) for glaucoma treatment, and premium IOL technology for cataract surgery.
State-of-the-art eye exams.
At Advanced Sight Center, you will receive one of the most comprehensive eye exams possible using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. This helps Dr. Short, Dr. Ullrich and Dr. Brodeur accurately detect eye disease or other abnormalities early, often before they present any symptoms. Early detection in many cases can lead to treatments that will prevent vision loss. Some of the advanced testing methods used at Advanced Sight Center include digital retinal photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), specular microscopy, Pentacam imaging and Humphrey visual field testing.
Once your exam is complete, the doctors will take the time to go over the results with you so you have a complete understanding of your current eye health. If you need specialized care, they will thoroughly explain the recommended treatment.
Glaucoma treatment.
Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, which is the part of the eye that carries the images we see from the eye to the brain. Glaucoma occurs when fluid buildup in the eye causes excessive intraocular pressure. Many patients are not aware they have glaucoma until they suffer a loss of vision, which is why regular eye exams are so important. If glaucoma is detected during your eye exam, the Advanced Sight Center will outline a treatment plan based on your individual needs. Eyedrops, medication or ointments are used to control eye pressure. Dr. Short and Dr. Ullrich also offer selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), a revolutionary FDA-approved procedure designed to treat patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG), which 90% of glaucoma patients have.
Comanagement of retinal disorders.
If you have diabetes, you are at increased risk for retinal problems which, if left untreated, can result in vision loss. If you need surgical treatment for a retinal problem, Dr. Short and Dr. Ullrich will coordinate your care with our board-certified retinal specialists Drs. Olk and Peralta, who offer today’s most advanced treatment methods for diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease and retinal detachments. This “team” approach helps ensure the best possible outcomes.
