Meet Our Doctors

Board-Certified Ophthalmologists & Optometrist

Dr. Howard Short established his ophthalmology practice in 1983 to serve the residents of the Franklin County and surrounding areas. At the time, the practice was located on 5th Street in Washington. Advanced Sight Center added its Creve Coeur location in 2000 and the Washington office moved to Jefferson Street in 2001. The practice expanded to its current three locations in 2015, when Bridgeton was acquired.

Dr. Short remained a solo practitioner until 2005, when Dr. Ullrich joined the practice. Drs. Olk and Peralta became the retina specialists two years later, and Dr. Blatt joined the practice in 2017.

There are always new and exciting advances being made in the field of ophthalmology, and our eye doctors make a point of staying on top of them. To do this, they complete many hours of continuing education each year, and maintain membership in some of the most respected organizations in their field.

Chris R Ullrich, DO, FACS

Board-Certified Ophthalmologist

Specializes in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cataract Surgery, and Refractive Surgery

“The eye is responsible for one of our most vital senses, and I’ve been fascinated with it since I was in the second grade. In fact, my lifelong interest in the concept of vision is what led me to the field of ophthalmology. There is nothing more gratifying to me than being able to help preserve my patients’ sight.

“I pride myself on patient education. The more my patients know about their condition and their treatment options, the more confident and at-ease they will feel. This personalized care, along with my knowledge of the latest ophthalmic advances, can make a positive difference in your vision and your life.”
